Hey Everyone,

Reminder of Narcolepsy Network Support meeting this Saturday, April 24th from 2pm to 4pm.

We had a good meeting last month. One of the new members attended. I think he was surprised by how much information we had. We reviewed a lot of things, but medications topped the list. Xyrem was reviewed. He had a lot of good questions and a lot of good information too. Lets hope he attends regularly.

I handed out the 2010 meeting calendar. It shows each month. Meetings and other events are noted. Our calendar picture for the year is from a newspaper ad. It shows a Mayan god sitting on a platform with knees bent, as if leaning against a wall. Behind the seated figure is a stack of bed pillows. I will keep trying to scan it to send as an attachment. Something is odd with my scanner now.

This prompted the other member who attended, ahem, ahem, to ask if there was a patron saint for sleep. See what I found out at the meeting this Saturday.

We compared notes on preferred doctors, noting that Kaiser does not have a specific sleep medicine department. We learned of some doctors that were unfamiliar to us.

We had a really good meeting between the three of us, ahem, ahem.

It had been suggested before last month’s meeting to not have refreshments. We only meet for 2 hours, and it is not enough time.

Well, we tried it. Even tough there were just three of us, ahem, ahem, it worked out just fine. We did not have tea, coffee, or refreshments. We liked it better that way. We’ll do it again this Sat.—well, not do it again. Also there will be an update of members out of town and those that send their greetings who are not able to attend. Some ideas on this Saturday.

Let’s get a good group together. We won’t meet next month in May, so this is our last chance to get together for awhile I still want to talk about dreams. I heard on a radio show of a book called The Dream Book: Symbols for Self Understanding by Betty Bethards. She was interviewed. She spoke well and was not sentimental or self centered. Let me know if you have any info on this book.

I also want to have a discussion about talking to group members on the phone—what a lift it gives.

Gluten free foods were discussed. Henry’s and Trader Joes has a selection of breads, pasta, cereals, and other foods. I will bring a shopping bag of items from these stores.

So, COME TO THE MEETING, and bring someone with you! Let’s turn out for this one! There is lots to talk about. Bring your own beverage.

P.S. the Joyce Beers Community Center has a new carpet. There are also new tables.

P.P.S. One of our members responded right away to my request to help with our webpage. Aren’t we lucky to have such talent among us! We have the basics back on the page now.

He said he would give our web page a make-over too. This is great! You can watch for the changes at:
